More Christmas presents!

We had too many cute photos of Michaela with her Christmas presents, so we had to show you all a few!

Anyway, today Michaela met Santa at the Bigton Bairns Christmas party. As well as getting her present, she got a pack of sweeties, but since she's too young for sweeties, I think Mom and Dad will help her out. Mom took home Cerys and Owen's presents too since they're both away on holiday - hopefully she'll remember to give them when they're back. For those of you that don't know, Cerys is 6 days older than Michaela and Owen was born about 11 hours before Michaela - all Bigton babies! And we meet up fairly regularly, so they're becoming pals already.

Not much else on really. On Wednesday, Michaela went swimming with Ciaran and her little cousin Elise - it was Elise's first time swimming and she seemed to enjoy it. Hopefully Elise will be able to come again. Oh yeah, again for those of you who don't know, Ciaran is another Bigton baby and he was born a fortnight after Michaela. On Thursday it was Mom's work Christmas party, so Granny Up-by took care of Michaela for about 5 hours! Surely it all went well for Granny, so that's a good sign for when Mom goes back to work. Mom enjoyed her day/night out and even got up for a few karaoke songs (stone cold sober too!).

That's about it for now. Sure we'll have lots of photos to choose from over the festive. Hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year!

Christmas presents

Here's Michaela with all of her Christmas presents. ALL of the ones in the photo are hers alone -none for Mom and Dad!

Laziness

Mom's too lazy to find a nice photo to put on this posting - sorry to everyone who was hoping for a nice picture of Michaela.

All's well here. Mom is done with the Christmas preparations - tree up and decorated, cards sent, all presents bought and wrapped (apart from a few online purchases still to come). Can't believe how organised this year seems to have been. Dad is still writing his cards, but other than that, all done!

Michaela met Santa Jim Budge on Friday at the Bigton Toddlers Christmas party. She took her present from Santa herself. Don't think she understands any of it, but she's happy to take presents! She just loves going to Toddlers. If she's grumpy, tired or hungry, all is forgotten about once she sees all the other kids running around. She just wants to join in, which I don't think will be far off!

In the lead up to Mom, Michaela and Granny up-by going to America, we wanted to try Michaela on a few jars of bought food. So, Mom went to Boots to buy a few jars to try over the festive period. Well, turns out the first stage food is actually runnier than anything Mom has been making at home, so Michaela is not keen. Mom just wishes the labels had said 'runny' or 'lumpy' or something, as stage two said from seven months, so it wasn't bought. Oh well, lesson learned.

Anyway, this is a tired posting as Michaela has been up all hours of the night recently. People said once solids were started, she should be sleeping better, but for us, it's been the opposite! Maybe it's just a coincidence, but the very day we started her on solids, her sleep got disturbed. Great! We're starting to introduce a tea time meal, so hopefully that will help some. Here's hoping........

Swimming, aka floating about

Here's Michaela having a fantastic time swimming. This was the first time letting her go in a floating seat and she just loved it! She tried kicking about as well. So, this is a huge hit and Mom will definitely be taking the cheap ebay seat to the pool all the time.

Other news from this week - Mom survived all by herself with Michaela. And most mornings, she seemed to realise it was only Mom around and slept in longer than usual - yippee! On Wednesday, granny up-bye came home from America and for Michaela, it was just like she never left! She seemed to recognise her granny and has been loving having her back home. Here's hoping this is a good sign for when Mom goes back to work and granny takes care of Michaela. On Thursday, Michaela met Santa at Bookstart at the library and even took a present from him. And on Friday, Michaela was 6 months old. She had to get another injection, but she coped fine with it. All made better with Daddy coming home at night.

Now the family is just starting to gear up for Christmas. Most of the presents have been bought and Mom has even written out nearly all of her Christmas cards. (Dad still hasn't started with his cards, but has done well with the presents) The tree is up and will be decorated tomorrow hopefully. Wishing for a stress-free lead up to Christmas...........

We all survived the weekend, just the week to go!

Mom made it back from the weekend trip to Orkney for the volleyball inter-county. The Shetland women lost, but were pleased with the amount of points taken, considering Orkney have been training hard for ages in their preparation for the Island Games. Bring on March! On a really positive point, mom was the captain for the Shetland women - what an honour! And the Shetland men won, so all was not lost.

Dad and Michaela got on great without mom. Maybe that means dad should have Michaela to himself every weekend?

So, all mom has to do is cope with this week alone with Michaela. So far it has not been a good start - she woke at 5am and has been grumpy for most of the day, but on the bright side, she's fallen asleep at 8pm.

Anyway, mom liked the photo above because it shows Michaela after she's fallen asleep listening to her dad play guitar - apparantly this is a regular occurence. Not sure what that says for dad's guitar talents........
